Atkins Low Carb Protein Shakes...

I was wondering what folks thought of these shakes as a protein supplement?  I am close to 2 weeks out and trying to find tasty ways to get the protein in.  Pre-op I was doing New Direction shakes which were so good to me but are refusing to agree with the pouch now.  I also bought a tub of fortress whey protein that I absolutely hate.

So, thoughts on Atkins shakes?

I used them or my preop liquid diet but can't tolerate them post op. Either the lactose or the huge amount of fat in them gave me dumping symptoms. Yuck. You would just have to try to find out. Try your first one at home.

I've been using the Atkins post-op and they agree fine with me, and they are tasty too. i love the strawberry and vanilla. the chocolate is OK, if you cant tolerate it, maybe just add a tbs of fat free whip cream ontop, thats what i do and it helps w/ the taste of the chocolate! i had stocked up on them without trying them,& not to fond of it.

I taste a lot of stuff...and for me, there's only one choice...

Syntrax Nectar- Caribbean Cooler flavor....  Zero gritty taste....super low carbs....super low cal....  WONDERFUL taste... (mix it in slowly to avoid clumping)......you can mix it with everything from water to any type of milk you want....

Delish....  seriously...

having a hard time with the UNJURY that the dr office sells/suggested....""gag""

do you suppose to just stick with Nectar is OK?? i do prefer this than a milky texture..all it needs is a pretty umbrella & a straw with a fancy glass!

I use the Any Whey Unflavored powder.  After 5 and a half years I got so sick of those thick chocolate and vanilla ones.  I just mix a scoop of the powder with about 2-3 tbsp sugar-free Torani or Da Vinci syrup (peach is my favorite) and blend it in a shaker bottle or a Magic Bullett.  It tastes so good and you can make it as sweet as you want.  The powder doesn't really have a taste at all and I love this stuff.  My hubby had RNY in August and this is the only way he drinks his shakes.  The Any Whey is great for cooking as well, especially if you use a lot of eggface's recipes.  She uses the flavored powders, but I just used the unflavored and it works great!

I get it from www.cheapvitamins.com and it's about $45 for a big 2 lb jug or $28-ish for a 1.5 lb jug.  I buy the big ones because it's cheaper by the serving and I use it all the time for baking, cooking, yogurt, granola, etc.  You can put it in anything and I've tried quite a few things.  Hope you like it!
